”Viandanze Re-imagined’ is a short EP based on four original piano pieces composed by italian musician Fabrizio Paterlini. March Rosetta a.k.a. Tom Carter - a well known british musician among the netlabels - has teamed up with Fabrizio and worked on top of the original pieces, adding some layers of guitar, bass, e-bow, drums, etc. until the original ‘classical’ pieces sounded more ‘popular’ and more atmospheric’.
‘The first piece ‘Forever Blue’ is the only one voiced by Tom, who has proved himself a very interesting and talented singer, thanks to some previous works signed under the March Rosetta alias. Tom also wrote the lyrics to this song, which is based in a original piano composition by Fabrizio - like the others, called ‘Profundo Blu’ (taken from the album Viandanze, released by the italian composer and available here). Fabrizio and Tom are both responsible for the final production of this work. Enjoy.’ - Pedro Leitão

Reviews:
'Again and again I'm simply overwhelmed by the creativity and sheer quality of production in the netaudio scene. There are a lot of releases out there that I would spent money on at any time - and one of them is the gorgeous ep 'Re-Imagination' by Fabrizio Paterlini & March Rosetta aka Thom Carter.
Both well-known names in the scene, Fabrizio and Thom joined forces for a 4-tracker full of dreamlike melodies and wonderful songwriting. March Rosetta works on top of Fabrizio's excellent piano works and refines them carefully with layers of percussions, drums, guitars and e-bow. Without a doubt the finest piece on this brilliant ep is the wonderful hymn 'Forever Blue' finally presenting Thom as a talented and expressive singer surrounded by sparkling pearls of piano notes and heartbreaking mandolin rain showers. But don't get me wrong: There's not a single piece on this ep which isn't deeply touching, a must for everyone's collection'.
'Re-Imagination' has been one of the highlights in a lovely week for me - I simply love it and recommend it warmly to you'.

'Fabrizio Paterlini released the magnificent Viandanze, a minimal, brooding and involving collection of piano pieces last year and certainly caught my eye with that release. This rather short EP, clocking in at seventeen minutes goes extremely fast and doesn’t dissapoint from start to finish. Thanks to the new digital age (I found out about this release via twitter) I was able to and not have it slip by unknowingly'.
The EP is a collaboration between Italian musician Paterlini and multi-instrumentalist March Rosetta and provides for an intriguing second look at Paterlini’s original pieces sifting them through another mind and churning out something less minimal and more atmospheric. The results are welcomed (not that the originals lacked anything to begin with) but the reworks here offer the listener another perspective of the wonderfully crafted orginals.
'The opening track is the only one of the four with vocals provided by Rosetta and has a distinct pop feel – almost U2 like in nature but infinately better and moving – especially towards the end. From this point on the EP only excels further with the original piano effort coupled together with lush soundscapes, crisp and emotive electric guitar and precise percussion. The element that stands out for me is almost certainly the guitar work as it aches and moans from a distance in the dark. Brooding and melancholic harmonics sweep underneath piano key strokes and it is this that brings brilliance to the final three pieces. I would have loved to hear a re-imagined version of Primi Passi, but I respect Paterlini for choosing to leave that masterpiece untouched. Much like the artwork suggests, there is great beauty in the most simplistic things in life'.
'You can download this EP for free and completely legal if you click on the artwork – the EP was released on the Test Tube netlabel'.
